Our Approach
BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE
Early in my professional career, I worked in New York City as an advertising executive and marketing research professional. I loved the work, but I decided to return to my lifelong dream of becoming a social worker. I went graduate school where I got a master’s degree in Social Work at the University of Connecticut, and graduated with a 4.3. I'm a perfectionist... but high grades don't necessarily make a great clinical therapist. Good therapy skills are needed, and that’s why I have attended numerous post-graduate courses including EMDR Therapy; Sensorimotor Psychotherapy; a year long training in dissociation; many addiction trainings, as well as being a registered yoga teacher. I integrate yoga meditation, mudra, asana and breathing techniques with trauma therapy.
I am also trained in Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy and I’m an MDMA Therapy Training Program trainee.
I have 20 years experience working in several different settings including outpatient mental health, substance abuse treatment and hospice. I am an EMDRIA Approved Consultant in EMDR therapy and I also have extensive training and experience in Motivational Interviewing and Trauma, P.T.S.D. and Addiction treatment. I've facilitated a variety of therapy groups including Anger Management, Domestic Violence, Co-Occurring Disorders and Relapse Prevention.
As an Approved Consultant in EMDR Therapy, I provide consultation to therapists looking for guidance, or for those who are interested in becoming certified in EMDR.
In addition to private practice, I offer presentations and training on trauma and EMDR Therapy.
