KATE BECKER, LCSW

(Also a cat-person.)

My Story:

Early in my professional career, I worked in New York City as an advertising executive and marketing research professional. I loved the work, but decided to return to my lifelong dream of becoming a social  worker. I earned a master’s degree in social work at the University of Connecticut, graduating with a 4.3 g.p.a.

I'm a perfectionist... but high grades don't necessarily make a great clinical therapist. Good therapy skills are needed–that’s why I have attended numerous post-graduate courses including: EMDR Therapy, MAPS MDMA Assisted Psychotherapy, Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy, and more.

I thoroughly enjoy working with clients in therapy, and with therapists in consultation. My professional training, certifications, experience, and specialty areas are listed below.

PSYCHOTHERAPY: My Approach

A harmonious body, mind, and spirit provide the foundation and catalyst for growth. It is in this harmony that the relationship to self is healed.

I provide a comfortable and non-judgmental refuge for you to identify and understand your struggles and strengths, and to engage in exploration of your goals.

My style is empathic, attentive, and straight-forward. I would like to help you remember your past without emotional distress, live in the present, fully, and plan for a future that is filled with hope.

Being vulnerable takes courage and is a necessary aspect of psychotherapy. I like to go beyond talk therapy by connecting with your subconscious, which can mean getting out of your comfort zone.

For psychotherapy to be fruitful, the ability to be vulnerable is important. Discovering and befriending the different aspects of your self takes courage, but is well worth it.

I help people connect with the voice of their emotions, the story of their body, and the knowledge of their spiritual self.
